RECAP: If you haven’t seen Dead Sara live yet, you’re really missing out. You’re not only missing out on a great rock show, but you’re not experiencing the energy that emanates from their lead singer, Emily Armstrong, as she dominates the stage during their performance.

Armstrong has been my girl crush since the night I saw Dead Sara perform at some small Silverlake venue years ago. She is a rock & roll vocalist who is as likable as she is brilliant; a veritable firecracker of a talent who is basically a unicorn in the music industry. Even when she takes a few moments during the performance to speak up about the presidential election and how NOT to vote for the orange, republican candidate, she is utterly captivating.

My ONLY criticism of their performance was that it was simply just too short. With two critically acclaimed albums under their belt, the band powered through their 40 minute set with a performance that was full of confidence, sass, humor and dirty rock and roll. Fan favorite “Lemon Scent” left me sweaty from my uncontrollable dancing and “Mona Lisa” was fiercely sexy. Given their relatively short set-time, Dead Sara had to speed through the last song of their set, the hit “Weatherman”, prompting Emily to jokingly call it a “punk” version of the song.
