Santa Monica, CA- Kicking off the music on the Santa Monica Pier 6/29/17 was the Los Angeles based alternative rock band Coast Modern. With a light and breezy sound, their sonics were the perfect compliment to the summer beach vibes at the Twilight Concerts as the sun set into the west.

Their sound is a fascinating one and is hard to categorize. Its alt-rock with carefully crafted synthpop sensibilities swathed with reggae flavors. Family friendly on one hand, yet stoner friendly on the other. Then again, lots of families get stoned together theses days so…

The ban’ showed no hesitation in their live performance. As the pier crowd continued to fill out the historic wooden landmark, they encouraged those who had arrived early to join their party and did an admirable job warming up the crowd. The band’s lead singer, Coleman Trapp, possessed a laid-back and relaxed tone as he sang to the masses, evidencing his naturally organic California vibe. In fact, he kind of gave me some Bradley Nowell (Sublime) vibes through the timbre of his voice.
