RECAP: If the name of your band consists of three exclamation points, you better have a live performance that meets those lofty expectations. !!! aka “Chk Chk Chk” has absolutely no problem living up to their name.
For those uninitiated with !!!, I don’t know what to say other than you should probably log onto Spotify to listen to their 2013 LP “Thr!!!er”. That was a BANGER of an album produced by Spoon’s Jim Eno. It was disco-funk perfection that could easily lead to a dance party in your living room if you cranked the volume up.
But what makes !!! such a killer band is that their live performance matches the energy on their records. Their front man, Nic Offer, in his trademark short shorts and tight short sleeved shirt has the kind of stage presence and bravado that other recording artist should revere. He has no fear as he spastically dances to his band’s grooves and ventures into the audience to get other to dance along with him.
Props should also be given to Meah Pace who joined Nic on vocals, and dance, at this performance. Together, they fed off each other’s energy, adding fuel to the flames of !!!’s kinetic performance.
