SAN BERNARDINO, CA- From the haunting atmosphere to the unforgettable music and costumes, Escape Halloween gave us a weekend of pure, eerie magic. These “top 3s” only scratch the surface of an event that brought a kaleidoscope of Halloween spirit to life.
BEST STAGES
1. The Boiler Room A brand-new addition, The Boiler Room from the famous underground EDM stage quickly became a fan favorite. With a main stage and two elevated platforms on either side, it created a 360-degree experience that let fans get right up close to their favorite DJs. The intimate setup was perfect for Escape, amplifying the crowd’s energy and turning the festival into something more personal.
2. The Grimm The Grimm was built for Halloween purists. From the looming voodoo skeleton that appeared to reach out into the crowd, this stage set a haunting tone that was impossible to ignore. The visual effects were just as sinister created by the half dozen massive screens and piercing lasers.
3. Feeding Grounds The Feeding Grounds brought an extra dose of creepy with a ceiling draped in spider webs and massive, animatronic spiders that moved around, descending to capture the crowd. By the end of the night, one of these eight-legged giants made its way over to The Grimm, becoming an honorary “guest” in the crowd.
BEST PERFORMANCES
1. Odd Mob Odd Mob was a highlight, bringing the crowd together with one of the most high-energy sets of the weekend. Everyone was dancing in sync, the vibe was infectious, and Odd Mob’s seamless blend of bass and house had everyone feeling the PLUR.
2. Meduza Meduza at the Feeding Grounds was a masterclass in atmosphere and intensity. Known for their deep, hypnotic beats, Meduza left the crowd spellbound, delivering a set that was haunting. It was the perfect set for the Halloween vibe.
3. Wooli Used his intense bass-heavy tracks to give The Sewer District crowd an unforgettable experience. Through the use of air and fire cannons that accentuated every drop, the set was powerful and raw. You could feel every beat deep in your bones, giving Wooli’s performance an otherworldly vibe.
BEST PRODUCTION
1. Kandi-Making Station in VIP Tucked away in one of the VIP sections was a DIY Kandi-making station, giving fans the chance to string together beads and create custom bracelets to trade or keep. The setup was a tribute to rave culture itself, giving Escape-goers a chance to slow down and connect through these colorful keepsakes. There’s nothing quite like handcrafting something in the middle of a bass-heavy, adrenaline-pumping festival!
2. Blackjack Table at the Circus Outside the circus tent, the blackjack table was a breakout hit. Here, you could wager with festival “currency”—anything from Kandi to small trinkets—for a round of blackjack with fellow ravers. It added a playful, carnival feel, and seeing a mini casino pop up in the middle of NOS was a surreal escape from reality.
3. Crowd-Controlled Fire Cannons In true interactive style, the festival featured fire cannons that the audience could control outside of The Grimm. With a synchronized pull of several levers, fans could unleash bursts of flame above the crowd, bringing a thrilling, immersive edge to the music. It was a fun, interactive pyrotechnic show.
