LOS ANGELES, CA- Acclaimed DJ duo Hotel Garuda, comprised of Chris Gavino (Manila Killa) and Aseem Mangaokar (Candle Weather), have received accolades from the electronic music world for the past couple of years, and for good reason.
These two kids, who each have been making their own music independently before reconnecting in late 2013, combined forces to create their side-project Hotel Garuda, which has since then turned into something more. They have made official remixes of songs for Lana Del Rey, Banks and Alina Baraz, and collaborated on viral singles with Gryffin and Kaskade.
A sound embedded in deep house meets indie dance music, Hotel Garuda’s remixes have instantly become viral hits online. Their debut “Smoke Signals,” which features atmospheric dance rhythms, a deep house bass line and immediate catchy pop vocals, has established them a dance music favorite to listeners worldwide.
As a headliner of this year’s Identity LA, the duo was proud to represent for Asians and Asian Americans in electronic music and, most notably, prove that it is an exciting time for Asian Americans in music. Their set was incredibly upbeat, poppy and featured dance and house music favorites from songs with Kaskade and Gryffin.
