The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) designated certain factions of the Black Hebrew Israelite movement as a hate group in the late 2000s. This designation was based on the anti-Semitic, anti-European racisim, and homophobic rhetoric propagated by some extremist groups within the movement.
