Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, alternative/indie rock band Nocturnal Animal, unleashes their debut EP Dark Lit Places. Composed of four tracks, the project takes on sounds displaying the group’s abstract minds.
Smooth, crisp, jagged melodies mesh together over each track. It’s as if the group was assembled and mastered by the likes of Green Day and Panic! At The Disco to have such conviction blast through your speakers.
The band is made up of four talented members: Mason Jones (Vocals and Rhythm Guitar), Will Bennett (Lead Guitar), Dawson Tucker (Bass), and Derrick Stephen (Drums). Their union is seamless as Dark Lit Places seems to take on a piece from each member in order to tell their individual stories.
The group was formally known as Rude, but this revamp is what will place them in the right direction. The project’s execution has the ability to slap you around, give you a hug and yell at you shortly after. It’s an emotional roller coaster ride your enthusiasm can’t resist.
From “Teeth,” to “4 AM,” to “Red Shoes” and “Satelite” audiences are able to hear just how abstract and unique the collective is. The buzz surrounding this project can’t be denied as it is solid and one that has the capability of standing amongst projects released by greats before it.
Nocturnal Animals still have some time to brew within the industry, but kicking things off with Dark Lit Places happens to be a damn good start!
