No Limit CEO Percy Miller a.k.a Master P will begin production on his ‘King of the South’ biopic this summer. The music mogul has teamed up with two of Hollywood’s brightest stars to make sure the production goes off without a hitch. Tapping Academy Award nominee, Queen Latifah, and Independent Spirit Award nominee, Wendell Pierce of ‘The Wire’ the biopic is said to be one for the books.
The ‘King of the South’ film will be filmed primarily in New Orleans as Master P wants it to have an authentic appeal. He’s sought out to make sure viewers get the true feeling of what it was like growing up in the Calliope Projects. The story in its entirety shows the life of struggle and triumph. It exemplifies true dedication, hard work, and what successes it can breed.
Master P changed the music game in the 90’s with an eighty-twenty distribution deal with Priority records — it was the first of its kind and led many deals to follow suit. Selling over one hundred million records independently, No Limit Records became one of the most successful Hip Hop labels to date.
In a recent release, Miller explains why he’s finally decided to share his story, “The timing is right for me to tell my story, it was tough back then especially being from the South, New Orleans was the murder capital at the time. I want others to learn from my mistakes and understand my work ethic of never giving up, no matter what it may look like.”
