LOS ANGELES, CA-  Los Angeles has never been short on bands trying to resurrect rock’s unruly spirit, but Los Frankies already feel like a group built to actually pull it off. Their debut album, D.E.D. City, arrives early next year, and if its first single is any indication, this quartet seems ready to drag Hollywood back into the gutter in the best possible way. I’ve been following Frankie Clarke for a few years now through her work with Frankie and the Studs, watching her carve out a lane of glam grit and snarling guitar tone, so hearing her collide with frontman Frankie Salazar on this new project feels like a match engineered for maximum rocking. The chemistry hits immediately, loud and unfiltered, the kind of raucous charge that hints at rocking even harder.

“I’m On Drugs,” the first taste of the album, plays like a shot of pure punk adrenaline. It’s a filthy, snarling sprint through late-night temptation and big-city delirium, wrapped in lyrics about cheap thrills, and blurred identities. It’s alive in the way early punk was alive, fueled by danger, grime, and a chaotic pulse that makes you want to hit repeat. The guitars howl, the rhythm section barrels forward, and Salazar’s vocals slice through the noise with the kind of force that feels both unhinged and totally locked in. Clarke’s playing, sharp and swaggering, adds an extra spark that turns a fun punk track into something that feels ready to ignite.

Clarke and Salazar make for a compelling dual-front presence, but the engine behind them is just as crucial. Miles Deiaco’s drumming doesn’t just hold the songs together, it launches them forward with a frantic heartbeat. Davide Cinci’s bass anchors the swirl of noise, thick and deliberate, giving the rest of the band space to detonate without losing shape. Together, they hit that sweet spot where everything feels wild but never sloppy, explosive yet purposeful.

As a launching point for the album cycle, “I’m On Drugs” is a pretty kick-ass introduction. It captures the personality of the band immediately: reckless, irreverent, and fully aware of the lineage they’re stepping into without leaning on imitation. There’s a rawness to it that feels refreshing at a time when rock too often hides behind polish. It’s messy in the way real life is messy, loud in the way great punk has always been loud, and clever in how it embraces the absurdity of big-city nightlife while still tapping into something honest. The hook hits hard, the pacing never lets up, and the whole thing bursts with the kind of attitude that makes you want to see them onstage as soon as possible.

With D.E.D. City arriving March 6, 2026, there’s plenty more to look forward to, especially the tracks where Clarke steps into the vocal spotlight. If her past work is any indication, those songs will bring even another level of grit and fire to the record. But as introductions go, this one lands with enough force to spark genuine excitement for what Los Frankies might unleash next. If “I’m On Drugs” is the opening salvo, then D.E.D. City is shaping up to be one of the most exciting rock debuts to come out of Los Angeles in years.
