Something fresh and new out of the UK, as 10-piece collective Joro Afrobeat deliver their new single ‘Matador’. The song brings together jazz, afrobeat and funk with some electrifying results! The deep set groove journeys through the sounds of London and its global heritage which has been a catalyst for the cultural variety.
A journey of tension and release mounts to an explosive climax: Adrenaline fuelled horn lines and heavy dub step reverberations all come together to tell their story. The song’s lyrics are in reference to the Grenfell Tower fire, a tragedy in West London in 2017 which caused 72 deaths and was blamed on the Government’s inability to protect their most vulnerable citizens.
You can also listen to the track via Bandcamp and Soundcloud. Their full EP is available on Bandcamp and across online music platforms very soon, so keep your eyes peeled! Until then you can follow Joro via Facebook, Instagram, Spotify and Soundcloud.
