ECHO PARK, CA- Homeboy Sandman is a rapper from Queens who has been on the Stones Throw roster since 2011. Known for his socially conscious wordplay (both in prose and rap), his performance brought a different vibe the Stones Throw Superfest stage when he hit the stage.
Homeboy Sandman’s performance was passionate and, given the then-current social and political climate, seemed to tap into the audience’s emotions, engaging them directly and really connecting with them on a personal level. Rapping about real experiences, it was clear that Homeboy Sandman wasn’t afraid to tap that nerve and give them something real. With the fluidity of jazz inspired beats intertwined with hip hop, his set was very appealing to ear which can be great for someone to listen to even if hip hop is not their genre of choice.
