Recently hitting the Barclay’s stage in Brooklyn for the highly anticipated Ruff Ryders Reunion Show, DMX appeared to be in great spirits as he performed a slew of classic hits. But what was happening to X internally? Throughout the years we’ve seen the animal-like rapper’s relationship with substance abuse and the law unfold. We got a glimpse into his personal life as he became a reality star, but have always appreciated his spirituality and ability to bring people together through prayer.
It was reported earlier this week that there were 3 shows being cancelled by Dark Man X due to a “medical emergency.”
According to TMZ, DMX checked himself into at a treatment center in Southern California Thursday night. It’s been said that although the decision was voluntarily made, it was his manager, Pat Gallo, and ex-wife, Tashera Simmons, who encouraged the move.
Gallo released a statement apologizing to fans on behalf of X, “It is important right now that he take some time off to focus on his health so that he can be a better father, friend and entertainer,” he continued, “We are eternally grateful for the outpouring of concern and support that has poured in. We ask that you please keep X in your prayers as he embraces your support.”
This isn’t X’s first time in rehab, but everyone is very hopeful that he gets the treatment and support he needs to make it through this trying time.
