AUSTIN, TX- For most of our SXSW artist coverage, we’ll keep it relatively short and sweet. We have over 80 artists to cover, so cut us some slack! 😉 We’ll basically be formatting each post into two parts: (1) Why our contributor wanted to see this act and (2) what our contributor thought of the performance”. Easy peasy. If you want to learn more about the act, make sure you click through to their social media links to get in the know. You won’t be disappointed!

Why I Wanted To See Courtney Marie Andrews: My fourth day of SXSW was stacked and loaded with plenty of acts from varying genres of music. That meant it included styles I regularly may not listen to, country music being among them. I had planned to be at the Radio Day Stage showcase for the majority of the afternoon and one of the artists I was looking forward to seeing was a country singer named Courtney Marie Andrews who I had heard about coming in to SXSW. I was curious about seeing my first country performance and I’m sure glad I picked this one.
What I Thought Of Courtney Marie Andrews’ Performance: Truth be told, Andrews’ beauty and sweet voice had me enchanted for the duration of the set. She came out to the stage initially by herself (band members eventually joined), dressed in a very southern way, bottomed off by a fashionable pair of white cowboy boots. Her singing, combined with her ability to play the guitar and keyboard, radiated through the audience in such a way that made you want to smile.
I know people often describe a concept called “southern charm”, well I think she’s the embodiment of it, even though Courtney hails from Arizona. You felt it as she sang with passion yet it was always calm, cool and collected, and often with a smile on her own face. Something about the songs and the melodies of her music had me feeling comfortable inside.
Andrews released a new album not long after the festival titled May Your Kindness Remain and played a few singles from it during her set as a preview. She’s gotten some high praise from many publications about the album and currently Andrews is on a US and European tour promoting it. I’d highly recommend going to see her live no matter where you live because she’ll bring her own southern charm everywhere she goes.
