President Joe Biden briefly wore a “Trump 2024” hat while visiting the Shanksville, Pa. Volunteer Fire Department on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
White House senior deputy press secretary Andrew Bates wrote on social media Biden had shared a message recallingthe “bipartisan unity” in post-9/11 America. He then called for Americas to return to this spirit with the approach of the election.
“As a gesture, [Biden] gave a hat to a Trump supporter who then said that in the same spirit, POTUS should put on his Trump cap,” Bates wrote. “He briefly wore it.”
The Trump campaign quickly seized on a picture from the event, writing “thanks for the support, Joe!”
