LOS ANGELES, CA- Last year, Blurred Culture had the pleasure of featuring Whitney Tai on our Madame Siam stage. When we caught up with her following that performance, she told us that she would be “speaking truth to power” with her new music.  With her newest single, “Surrender“, Whitney starts to speak that truth.

Of the song, Whitney says:

“Surrender was a sort of resting place I’d arrived at towards the end of 2019. You become tired of repetitive behaviors that naturally accumulate over your lifetime which stop yielding new outcomes. The physical act of writing this song felt like carving out space or embracing this vast negative space where more possibilities could be born. “Surrender” is understanding an abstract drawing; it‘s only until you forget who you are, your body in relation to the physical world and every learned perception you’ve ever known, that you can truly make sense of the abstraction. To let go and let live. There is a quote I really love from Author Kevin Michel, “the trajectory of your life is no longer just one straight path to an eventuality, but is instead one path of many, on an ever-branching tree of possibilities.”

“Surrender” was produced by #1 Billboard Producer Tim Janssens and is the first single from Whitney’s forthcoming album “Apogee”. It is a polished track that swells with emotions through massive crescendos which highlights the full range of Whitney vocal range. A fantastic taste of what to come, I’m sure.

“Righteous” will be the followup single on May 12th on International Nurses Day, dedicated to the brave men and women in the healthcare industry, putting their lives on the line to defend our rights and well-being during the pandemic. Let’s make sure we keep an eye out for that.
