“And if you love me then why won’t you use me?

If you hate me then why do you care?

You said that we would go the distance

Now you don’t take me anywhere” – “Bonfire” by The Hunna

Poignant lyrics like these, and a flare for hair flips and backbends, made it clear to everyone at the Bootleg Theatre that bad boy brit band The Hunna are putting their feet on the pulse of the music world, will not relent.  Take the stage at the Bootleg Theater’s intimate bar stage, The Hunna played a set packed with big drum-bangers and enticed the crowd with up-close-and-personal mic kisses driving the well-versed crowd wild.  For a relatively new band on the music scene, The brit boy band brought the “Bonfire” to a potentially sleepy Tuesday night crowd in Los Angeles.

setlist-image-v1From the anthemic “You and I” to ballad-esque “Still Got Blood”, and closing with a yet to be released “Bad For You”, their nine song set list gave us a taste of what can be expected on the EP from the boys that’s set to be released worldwide on August 26th, 2016.

Young and old alike boogied down, following singer/guitarist Ryan Potter’s lead, head-banging to the rhythms allowing masses of hair take on a lives of their own nourished by the music.  Lead guitarist Dan Dorney – modelesque in height and carriage of his instrument – kept things cool and collected in his corner of the stage, while bassist Jermaine Angin swung both his body and bass so hardcore that for a moment I thought he may take flight from the stage!  Jack Metcalfe – drummer and current holder of the most tattoos in the band – kept it controlled in back, the rhythm never wavering away from toe-taping greatness.

This Hertfordshire, England-based four-piece have built a sturdy fan base across the pond, and are quickly assembling the same over here in state-side.  Managed by the same man who is responsible for big name talent like Halsey and Lana Del Rey – Tim Larcombe – they are the first UK rock group to be signed to the label 300 entertainment.  Fellow labelmates include the likes of Fetty Wap, Conrad Sewell, and Highly Suspect.
