LOS ANGELES, CA– Grammy-nominated, chillwave/post-rock recording artist Scott Hansen (professionally known as Tycho) took a bold leap with his latest album Weather. Released earlier this year, Weather is a sonic departure from his past albums (Dive, Awake and Epoch) in that it- for a majority of the album- focuses on the human voice. In an interview with BrooklyVegan, Tycho said, “I wanted to finally fulfill what had been a vision of mine since the beginning: to incorporate the most organic instrument of all, the human voice”
Tomorrow night, at the venerable Greek Theatre, Tycho will kick off a massive tour that will have him traveling across the U.S. and throughout Europe well into 2020.
Blurred Culture’s contributor ExhibitCreative had a chance to chat with Tycho about getting ready for the tour, and clearly, he is bringing a lot more to the table for this endeavor:
“Tour is tough. After an album, there’s a big production process where you translate what you spent all these months agonizing over every detail. In the studio, you have the benefit of all this equipment and powerful computers. On the road, you have to distill all of that down into (a), something that will function in a live environment […] and (b), that’s playable […]. That’s what I’ve been spending the last few months on, and this is the first time I’ve had that much time to spend on translating a record, so this tour is going to be an entirely new production […] a lot of lights and visuals. A lot of new elements”
Tycho even teased his fans that they should expect something even bigger and better than the last time he was out on tour.
Needless to say, I think it’s a safe bet that we can anticipate a fully immersive sonic and visual experience from Tycho for these upcoming shows.
