LOS ANGELES, CA- Texas Death Star. The name alone captures the imagination. Though they don’t have any Star Wars memorabilia accompany them on stage, nor are they from Texas (they are an L.A. based band), their music is loud and shredding enough to cause some ripples in the universe.

From their Facebook page, Texas Death Star was formed by lead vocalist/bassist Eric Asevo back in 2002 and was originally an Industrial/Electronica project. Their recent performance at The Whisky A Go-Go, however, was straight up hard hitting rock and roll with nary an electronic track utilized.

Texas Death Star has shared the stage with well known acts such as Hammerfall, Great White, L.A. Guns, Steel Panther, Love/Hate and members for W.A.S.P, Ratt and Alice Cooper, and their experience on stage was evident at The Whisky. With fans in the audience singing and head banging along to their jams, they fed off that energy and really left a favorable impression on me for my first time seeing them perform live.
