Joyce Manor with their Biggest Concert EVER

LOS ANGELES, CA- It is absolutely insane that 2019 is starting off with Joyce Manor’s BIGGEST concert venue ever. What is even more insane is thinking about how only 80 people were at Joyce Manor’s first ever show, and now they completely filled up the Hollywood Palladium.

Following up on their latest album Million Dollars to Kill Me , the extremely popular American emo-indie band Joyce Manor performed an exceptional show at The Hollywood Palladium. The band had everyone singing along and getting groovy to every single one of their songs and had the venue feeling like it was 2011 all over again. Who said emo music was dead?

Before Joyce Manor took the stage, bands like Awakebutstillinbed, AJJ, and Jeff Rosenstock all delivered emotionally charged sets that that really enhanced the atmosphere of the event. Emo and indie fans, teenagers and adults, alike, reveled in the poetry of the music being performed. It was a crowd that shared the same headspace, making for a very friendly environment, despite the endless moshpitting. Young fashion punksters danced the night away to every single band that performed and the hype just never died intensified throughout the evening.

Jeff Rosenstock made sure that the show’s momentum stayed at its apex. Jeff and his band rocked everyone’s socks off! The Long Island artist seemed intent on keeping the pace fast and fevered and brought the fiery spirit of punk-rock music to life, teased the crowd into dancing like it was an actual thrasher show. With the stage light flashing around, everyone in the band was actively moving around the stage, lifting up their guitars to the heavens. Jeff even even played two instruments at once at one point.

The energy levels were so insane that even I had trouble keeping up with action on stage, and that energy flowed out into the audience. It got really intense, but everyone was loving it and Jeff even made sure that his fans were safe by telling everyone that people who grope on other women during the show should be escorted off the premises. It was a safe space for everyone, and that resulted in an amazing performance.

I’ve seen Joyce Manor many times in the past, including the time where they sold out both of their shows at the Los Angeles Union Station in 2018. I had all confidence that they would deliver an amazing show. And they did.

The band started off with one of their old hits Heart Tattoo and continued to rip through an immence setlist of 25+ songs which included the live debut of “Fighting Kangaroo”, a The Murder City Devil Cover (“Midnight Service at the Mutter Museum”) and a song that they let the crowd choose (“Christmas Carol”). I could tell that Joyce Manor’s music really connected with the youth in the crowd. It seemed like every fresh face was singing every single word to every single song.

These are some hardcore fans. It’s stunning to see how each and every time Joyce Manor plays a “hometown” crowd, the crowds get bigger and rowdier. It truly amazes me how much and how fast they are growing and how much people really love and follow this band. That being said, at the end of the show, everyone was dripping of sweat and had a smile on their face. It was a privilege to be in attendance at Joyce Manor’s biggest concert to date. I can’t wait to see them grow more and fill out larger venues.
