RECAP: In an interview with the Long Beach Post prior to the festival, Dr. Dog reflected on their close ties with the Long Beach music scene. When they took the stage on the second night of Music Tastes Good, they seemed to be right at home.

Having seen them perform on several occasions, the last time being at The Wiltern at the start of this year, I can say their performance at Music Tastes was genuinely consistent. It is a testament to the experience they’ve culled over their long nineteen career. They know exactly what their audience wants see/hear, and they are obviously pleased to oblige them to make them happy.

Dr. Dog’s performance was accompanied by solid stage production that accentuated their sonics. Music Tastes Good’s stage production added truly visceral visual elements with a wash of heavy red and purple lights and their fog machine stepping up into overdrive to  accompany their “Psychedelic Swamp” sonics, setting up the perfect mood for the audience to get lost in.
