LOS ANGELES, CA- Donna Missal is a fierce performer. We’ve seen her perform live on multiple occasions, and we’ve always been taken aback by the amount of emotion that she espouses as she wails away on her big hooks. Recently, however, Missal treated her fans to an acoustic rendering of her single “Hurt By You” that focuses that passion into an emotional outpouring.

The song was produced by Andrew Wells (X Ambassadors, Fitz, and the Tantrums, Bebe Rexha) and Tommy King, who plays piano on the track. Without the pulsing beat of the drums that inhabits the original version, the vulnerability of the lyrics cries through. As she sings lyrics in the chorus, “Tried so many damn times to cut you loose/ Now I’m way too far away to be hurt by you”, there’s an added gravitas to those words that linger and make you… feel.

The original version of “Hurt By You” has already amassed more than one million cumulative global streams, but this thoughtful rendering of the banger is, in my humble opinion, so much more impactful and meaningful, and is a testament to Donna Missal’s ability to wear many creative masks, which is the true sign of artistry.

“Hurt By You” is the first official single from Donna’snew album, which will be released later this year by Harvest Records. Download / stream “Hurt By You” (Stripped) HERE.
